Genres: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Historical Fantasy, and possibly parody and satire. Oh and school papers - obviously nonfiction and mostly on history.
Types: Novels mostly, but what I've been doing for the most part lately is world building. It's quite fascinating. I have multiple stories in various stages of being created. I hope to work on one this summer and do another one for this year's NaNoWriMo.

Currently my main problem with deadlines and getting things done is the fact that school is eating me and I'm having trouble with deadlines there. I have multiple papers overdue and I need tons of damn help with this because it's scaring me and I can't fail these classes. I also keep getting urges to write fanfic, but I don't know what to do for the most part for inspiration. I have a few ideas for Final Fantasy VII fanfic, but I need to replay the game to check something and my copy is in storage which makes me a sad puppy. And all this school stress and my sleep schedule being off kilter has just made it nigh impossible for me to do almost anything!

I'm signed up to do writing for parthenon for one of my original worlds and I can't find the energy to write any of the prompts and I'm also involved in musing_way where I have way too many muses and I get ideas on how to respond to prompts, it's just somewhere the translation is getting lost.

Oh and I signed up for ff_exchange as well and I have a fic that's long overdue that I promised to someone.

And on top of all of that, I actually have never really had people beta my work because I am chronically shy and afraid of asking for help

Welcome! Your post reminded me that I have two long overdue fics that I promised people as Christmas presents. Oops.

Re: the FFVII game, would checking a game script be enough? Somewhere I have a bookmark of the script.

Mine's worse. It was a help_haiti fic. The person knows that rl has kicked my ass, but I still feel bad.

And as for the script, yeah, one would be good, but my main problem with the fic I want to write is that I need to know the spacial details, aka where everything is placed in a particular part of the game. Plus I'm the kind of weird person who needs to play the game to get the story or something. Most fic for FFVII I can write without needing to play the game again, but certain fics require me to get a feeling for the layout and world again. I feel that I'm kinda odd 'cause of that.

No, I think I know what you mean. I bought FFVII and FFVIII on the PSN store for my PSP, because even though I still know what happens to the characters, I feel like I need to get a feel for them and their world again outside of my head. There's a game script here, anyway.

Oh I have a PSP too, just I don't have a memory card with enough space at the moment and I kinda don't see the point in buying a game I already own that just happens to be in storage. I do plan on buying a memory card with more space at some point so I can get the PS games that I never owned, but at this time, I just gotta get through the two games I already own: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Dissidia Final Fantasy. At least if I ever want to get into FFVIII or FFIX fanfic writing, I still have my games out of storage that I can play. I just never really got that far into FFVIII, but I might do FFIX someday. It depends really.

My copies are still shared with my sister, even though I live in Wales now and she doesn't, plus I travel a lot on the train -- two five hour journeys once a month at least -- so I totally thought the portability was worth it.

FFVIII seems to be one of those games that some people get into a lot (me!) and others just don't care about. Doesn't help that Squall's a sulky git. *pats him*

For some reason, the PSP doesn't really do it for me in portability. It's probably because I'm used to my DS (I just recently got my PSP in December) and the PSP seems to have a shorter battery life and I am very paranoid about scratching the screen, so I need to find a case for it that I like.

It's actually not Squall I disliked, it was more...I dunno, I didn't particularly care for Rinoa. I'm trying to play it again to see if my feelings toward it has changed, but I kinda got lost when I've done that part several times before. -facepalms- Plus I haven't been playing on my PS2 much lately. Maybe come summer I'll play it.

Right now I've been focusing on playing Final Fantasy IV for the DS, which I hope to add to my fanfiction writing once I'm done with it (which should be soon) and then I can also start playing the sequel to it on my Wii. :D

I didn't use my PSP much at first, either. I do tend to paranoidly carry the cable around, which is okay for the train journeys because they provide a plug socket thing.

Not many people like Rinoa, either. And she gets bashed a lot in fic, to the point where I keep pondering doing a manifesto just to prove it's okay to like her.

I need to finish that, too. I've played FFIV on the PS1 and on the GBA, but not the DS remake. Well, I've played it, but I haven't completed it.

If I'm on a long trip, I'm either in a car or a bus, so the recharging thing doesn't work very well for me. But I'll probably play it more eventually, I just have more games for the DS that I really need to finish.

I don't think I really dislike Rinoa anymore. It's been a long time since I played the game, so I was a teenager at the time. Hence another reason for replaying the game. I kinda want to give her a chance because I hate the bashing of another character I like in a different fandom, namely Relena of Gundam Wing.

Yeah, not everything works for everyone, obviously...

She gets much the same sort of reactions as Relena, in my experience. I can see why people dislike her, but she also develops more than people seem to think.

Ohhh history papers, huh? What are you studying? I ask because I'm a bit of a history geek (though mainly art history). AND ARGH - I totally remember the days of having to write papers. So stressful.

Right now my only history class is Lesbian and Gay History, but I usually take classes in European history. I'm just an undergrad, so stuff varies. Next semester I have a class about middle eastern history because my degree requires me to take a certain number of credits of non-western history. I'm also taking a class that same semester about middle-class work and ambition in six 19th century novels.

I do plan to go to grad school someday and study WWI though.

Asking for someone to beta my work is something I struggle with, too. My beta is really awesome and I know stories are better after she's gone over them, but I still always hesitate to ask unless I'm really struggling with a story.

See, I can't proofread my own stuff worth beans, so I don't know if my stuff is good or bad because I've just never had a beta. I don't know where to begin searching and I'm scared to find out if my writing is actually just really crappy. Though considering how many people on fanfiction.net keep favoriting my stories, I must be doing something right even though ff.net isn't exactly the best place for fanfiction.
