Main fandoms: Stargate SG-1, American Idol RPF, Garth Nix Old Kingdom, Mercedes Lackey Valdemar.
Favourite characters/pairings: Daniel Jackson, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, various OFCs.
Favourite writing tool: AO3 and Notepad. And Excel, to make pretty graphs of wordcount when the writing is not going well.

Working on: Currently struggling to get any words out at all. My main target at the moment is to get even some tiny ficlets written, and odd scenes from my longer works-in-progress.

Welcome to the comm! What's the trouble? Lack of inspiration, or lack of time? Focus?

I have a reasonable amount of inspiration in terms of stories in my head, and some time to write, though not as much as I'd like. It's just getting it from an image in my head into words on the page - it just won't flow properly.

When I get like that, I end up just working on something unimportant and writing and writing until I get into the swing of it. Sometimes I use Write or Die just to make sure I don't keep editing myself.

That looks like a handy tool. I tend to find I'm doing the editing in my head before I even get it into words.

Yeah, I get that too. Write or Die hasn't been as effective for me lately because of it, grr.

Hello! I hope that the struggle becomes easier soon.

What I try to do when I'm having trouble is write small, no-pressure snippets that don't matter -- I get bogged down in what's wrong very easily, so calming down my inner editor is something that helps me.
