Title: Waiting for the Hint of a Spark.
Fandom: Supernatural.
Main characters: Sam, Dean, Castiel, Bobby, God.
Rating: PG13.
Contains: Angst, AU (from the end of S4).
Summary: When Lucifer rises, Dean gets blinded. Of course, that doesn't stop people from thinking he's still meant to save the world. Oh, and God's an asshole.

And another fic posted!

Just as with my AU Big Bang fic, I decided to post my SPN Crossover Big Bang fic exclusively to Dreamwidth, so it could be a part of the [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw fest.

Title: By Pendragon's Sword the Dark Shall Fall.
Fandom: Supernatural & The Dark is Rising.
Main characters: Sam, Dean, Castiel, Ruby; Will, Bran. No pairing.
Rating: PG13.
Contains: Angst, AU, crossover.
Summary: When Dean sees Bran and Will in a crappy little diner, he has no idea how important they're about to become to his life. And if he had to pick anyone to be extra special, it'd be the arrogant albino asshole, not the mild-mannered Will Stanton. Which shows how much he knows. Will's the Watchman of the Light, and he's not at all pleased with what he's seeing.

Read it here!

I included a place to download a .rtf copy, for those with vision issues or who want it on their ereaders.

Basically expecting no comments because the fandom I did a crossover with is so small, but you could prove me wrong... *grin* Someone's gotta be interested, anyway.

I posted my AU big bang fic. *flails excitedly*

Like [personal profile] shanaqui, I posted my story exclusively to Dreamwidth so I could make it part of Three Weeks for DW.

Title: New Day Rising
Fandom: Jericho
Rating: General
Warnings: None
Words: 15,970
Summary: A time-travel AU, sequel to [personal profile] scribblesinink’s Times Like These. Sent back in time, Jake Green has successfully prevented the September nuclear attacks. Armed with the memories of nearly a year of events that haven't happened, he must pick up his life and find a way to fix relationships that are once more broken. (Minor crossover elements with Supernatural.)

Read it here, where you can also find links to the lovely art that [livejournal.com profile] optimouse made for it.

I'm also very happy that my muses are all excited about writing id-pleasing fic for my beta's birthday and doing a good job working out the plot hole issues. (Also, for those who haven't seen it, [personal profile] strina wrote a great post about id-fic - probably NSFW language, depending on where you work....)

I'm hoping that finally posting the above fic and having freshly excited muses will mean they're all cooperative for the two ficathons I've signed up for....

FIC POSTED! *runs around with arms in the air*

I decided to post my [livejournal.com profile] au_bigbang fic exclusively to Dreamwidth. It's easier than splitting it into parts for LJ's post limit. And I could make it Three Weeks for DW content, too. Buuuut I don't have as many readers on DW, so I'm really really hoping I still get comments over here. *grin*

Title: Right Where We Belong.
Fandom: Supernatural.
Main characters: Dean, Ellen, Jo, Castiel, Sam. No pairing.
Rating: PG13.
Contains: Angst, AU, violence, a happy ending.
Summary: When John dies, Dean ends up at the roadhouse and is brought up by Ellen as Jo's big brother. Growing up there is no protection, though -- not when the apocalypse is about to start.

Read it here!

You'll also find links to all the extras (including two fanmixes and a drinking game!) on that post. I included a place to download a .rtf copy, for those with vision issues or who want it on their ereaders.
tanaqui: animated gif, text: we are plotbunnies, fear us (plotbunnies)
[personal profile] tanaqui
Name: Tanaqui
Writing journal: [personal profile] tanaquific for longer stories. Drabbles tend to go in my general journal ([personal profile] tanaqui).
Main fandoms: Jericho, Tolkien, Stargate: Atlantis, Supernatural, and various others where I’ve written a story or two.

Favourite writing tool: more an... environment: a private Google Site shared with my primary collaborator/beta/braintwin for the shared ‘verses we’re writing in the Jericho fandom. It’s not particularly pretty, but it’s really useful and easy to use for uploading and sharing fic drafts, storing reference material (screencaps of key images from the show, transcipts, our painfully constructed timeline) and a place to round up and keep our plotbunnies until we get a chance to write them.

What triggered my horrible addiction to signing up to challenges? [livejournal.com profile] cliche_bingo. I’d signed up for a few challenges before that, mostly in the SGA fandom, but my muse totally glommed onto those cliches! I then got a bit sign-up happy and ended up feeling a bit over-extended. I've been trying recently to pull back and only sign up for things I really, really want to do. But I like challenges because I usually work really well to deadlines and prompts. (I’ve done some self-imposed "daily drabble" challenges in the past.)

Achievement:
I’ve finished my [livejournal.com profile] au_bigbang story and will be posting that next week. \o/

Working on:
I’m currently poking at two Jericho stories in the main shared ‘verse. One is plodding along in a need-to-get-the-plot-out sort of way, before I can go back and fix the characters’ emotional arcs and figure out if I maybe have scenes in the wrong POV. The other I’ve only just started working but it feels like it’s going to be one of those stories where I write lots of disconnected scenes and then figure out how to tie them together.

On the backburner:
I have several part-written stories that I know I’ll get back to and finish some day, but where I mostly need to figure certain things out or write other stories first that will help me figure things out.

To do in the next few months:
  • [community profile] ladiesbigbang: I have an outline, but haven’t written anything yet
  • [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon: I have a lovely quote prompt and a very vague idea about the story I want to write, but I suspect I need to get nearer the deadline for me to get properly focused.
  • Edit the draft of a 45,000-word Jericho story. This is the longest thing I’ve ever written by quite some distance, and I’m a little flaily about doing that - mostly because of the size of it and being concerned that I can’t keep on top of everything and make sure every part of it ties together as tightly as I’m used to being able to do in shorter pieces. Any tips anyone has on how they approach editing/revising longer pieces would be most welcome!

I'm participating in several Big Bangs this time, and I'm having various problems with my artists. I think this applies both ways, though: author to artist, and artist to author.

-Introduce yourself! [personal profile] auroraprimavera was my first ever Big Bang artist. The first email she sent me was an introduction, and lo, we got on like a house on fire.
-Respond promptly! Even if it's to say you can't do [x], at least then your partner knows where you stand.
-Keep in touch. If you have a problem, let your partner know, so that if you suddenly disappear offline but you'll be back in time, they don't contact mods going "help! my artist disappeared!". If you don't have a problem, just let 'em know you're still around and doing your bit.
-If someone sends you their latest draft, it's nice to respond and let them know what you think once you've had chance to read it/see it. One of my artists received my draft almost two weeks ago and there's been silence since. Silence feels ominous, to me...
-Work together! Don't spring a massive plot change surprise on your artist two days before the deadline.
-If you promise to do something, deliver. If you promised a rough draft by Tuesday, follow through!
-If in doubt, ask.

What other advice would you have about getting on with your author/artist? My main problem has been total lack of communication.
tassosss: (Default)
[personal profile] tassosss
Name: Tassos is the one I started with way back when.  Journaling, it turned into [personal profile] tassosss .  I go by both.
Writing journal: I don't have one separate from my regular journal, but all my stories are at the AOOO
Main fandoms: Um.  Many.  Farscape, Supernatural, Stargates, Buffy, Firefly, Star Trek XI, bunch of others.  LOTS of crossovers.
Favourite characters/pairings: This changes a lot and depends on what story I'm telling.
Favourite writing tool: Scrivener.  And pen, paper and a room with no windows.  Totally works.

Most difficult part of writing for me: Finishing when I'm stuck.  Once I lose momentum and more than a week goes by, the story ends up languishing and never getting finished.  And right now figuring out how to start a story.
Working on: I've got a Star Trek XI story due in a month, and Buffy auction fic many months over due that I'm close to finishing.  I have about five other long, non-deadlined stories going on.  One I'm actively working on, the other four are the dread stuck ones.  And I want to sign up for Star Trek Big Bang.  Yeah.
Looking for: Someplace to talk milestones, cheerleading (I'm a good cheerleader too!).  Someone to talk me down from being intimidated by how big and out of control a story gets.

Original:  I haven't written much beyond a NaNo that will never see the light of day, but I have a notebook on a shelf with scifi type ideas.

Alright I just finished writing a one shot crossover fic. It's femslash if anyone is wondering. The fandoms are the TV shows Criminal Minds (the person the story revolves around is my icon), The Inside, Gossip Girl, the movies Untraceable and Final Destination with some original characters thrown in. Now I need a person or two to beta it.

After that I'll be writing an epic crossover soon where the first story is a crossover of Mean Girls and two Canadian TV series called Higher Ground and Student Bodies.

Anyone interested?

I completed three Big Bangs in the last month or two, but I still have four left: [community profile] kinked, [community profile] ladiesbigbang, [community profile] scifibigbang and [community profile] hardmode. They're all due at the same time, at the end of August. I also have four essays to write (1,600 words each) and an exam to sit in Anglo-Saxon, and consequently a shitload of translation work to do, not to mention research.

So. A timetable! My essays are due on the 10th and the 17th of May. Two on each date. I don't remember exactly which is which, so I might have to rearrange this...

[community profile] kinked: Get first draft done by 20th April.
Crime Fiction essay: Get first draft done by 25th April.
Women's Poetry essay: Get first draft done by 30th April.
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight essay: Get first draft done by 5th May.
Myth & Saga essay: Get first draft done by 10th May.
[community profile] ladiesbigbang: Get first draft done by 15th June.
[community profile] hardmode: Get first draft done by 1st July.
[community profile] scifibigbang: Get first draft done by 15th August.

Obstacles: Anglo-Saxon exam, moving out of my flat, driving lessons, a summer job, my twenty-first birthday.

...Cheer me on? Ask questions about what I'm going to do, so I can enthuse at you and get myself enthusiastic? Poke me?

You remember this post? Where I said I was taking my best friend on holiday on the 6th, and aimed to finish my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang fic today?

Finished, titled, beta'd, and ready to turn in. Still a rough draft, but I'll only need to look it over once or twice more.

Made a request, here, for something Merlin-ish. Hope to see more activity (requests and replies) on the request pool soon...

*takes off the mod hat again*

I have a feeling I'm going to be posting a lot today, but hey, it's all in the name of getting this community off the ground and making people feel comfortable posting. Right?

Anyway, so I have my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang fic to do. The target is 20k words. Technically, I have until the end of April for my rough draft. Practically, because I want to get on with writing other things, and because my exams are coming up, I'm planning to finish it by the time I take my best friend on holiday.

That's the 6th of April. I started work two days ago.

I also have to finish my edits on my [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang fic today, and come up with a title and a summary.

Keep poking me until I say I've done it? (Poking by comments or PMs is fine. If I don't reply, I'm writing, sleeping, eating, or hiding my head in shame...)

I figure I should probably post a to-do list, mostly to focus myself for today's big writing push. Here goes:

[community profile] scifibigbang - Need to finish plotting it out and begin the solid writing, though I've already done around 1000 words of it.
[community profile] overlooked - Signed up to write a set based on Rhyme and Sachs in the Lincoln Rhyme Series. I hope to get the first one done today.
[community profile] yearofhope - Time to start fresh and hope that nothing else happens to completely derail me.

I must also write a eulogy for my maternal grandfather, who died this last week. It needs to get emailed to my mom by tonight.

I'd like to finally finish His Wedding Ring in the Hey Arnold fandom, since it's already plotted out.

Today's plan is to spend 3-4 hours writing, in blocks of roughly 30 minutes each. I want to spend one of those blocks tackling the eulogy (two, if need be), and at least one block on each of the comms listed. It doesn't look like much, but for me, it feels like a lot right now.
elfin: image: peter looking sort of lost (fringe.peter blue)
[personal profile] elfin
Name: Kelli.  Will also respond to Elf.
Writing Journal: [personal profile] elfin is my everything journal.  Fic is (mostly) tagged so it's easy to find.  Everything's archived at [archiveofourown.org profile] crazylittleelf  on AO3.
Favorite writing tool: Scrivener.
Type of writing:  Mostly fanfiction.
Main fandoms:  Fringe, with a scattering of Gaiman-verse, Human Target, Criminal Minds, and Top Gear.  In the Fringe fandom, I'm pretty enamored with writing AUs, which the show lends itself to so very well.
Favorite characters:  The father/son dynamic between Peter and Walter Bishop is one of my favorite things about Fringe, especially because that dynamic is so screwed up.  They are two of my favorite characters of all time.  I'm also getting to be very fond of Guerrero on Human Target.  As far as parings go, I like damn near anything.  I like seeing possibilities that people come up with in terms of how and why certain characters would get involved with each other, so I don't really have OTPs.  I do strongly appreciate teh hawt that is Peter/Olivia.  ^^
Most difficult part of writing for me:  Actually, physically writing things down.  I tend to think scenes through in my head, get long strings of dialog, but I don't write them down as I go, so I can never really remember the whole thing.  I'm trying to break myself of this by always having something to write on at hand.
Looking for: Like-minds and sympathetic ears.  :D

I've signed up for [community profile] scifibigbang , and am eagerly looking forward to the next round of [community profile] kink_bingo .

(mods: wasn't sure how to tag Neil Gaiman, if there should be tags for each book or a general Gaiman tag.  lemme know.)

Hello there, this is the other half of your super-awesome-super-hot modly duo *g* I would take off my modly hat, if I had one - but I don't, the puppy ate it. Really, she did.

*ahem*

Name: Aurora
Writing journal: [community profile] relevant_creativity HUR HUR U SEE WOT WE DID THAR??? >_>
Main fandoms: Supernatural, BBC's Merlin
Favourite characters/pairings: Sam'n'Dean Winchester, Sam/Dean, John Winchester, Mary Winchester - Merlin, Arthur, Merlin/Arthur - I dabble in other pairings and such in each fandom, just not enough to really warrant mentioning.
Favourite writing tool: Tbh, my favorite tool is MS Word *shrugs* I know, I know - but it works for me and since I have Office 2007, I can see my word count at the bottom of the screen and that helps lots. I've used Write or Die (both the online & desktop editions) for word wars - but by myself I don't use it. I also just signed up over at 750words which [personal profile] amethystfirefly mentioned and I signed up for their April challenge, maybe that'll help!
Most difficult part of writing for me: Getting started and finishing ON TIME. /o\ Deadlines are something I'm slowly re-training myself about.
Looking for: Cheerleading, others who will hold me accountable and say "Hey, FINISH THIS" because otherwise...I tend to stop working on things. Word wars, others to chat w/ on IM, plot discussion, beta help.

Right now, I'm signed up for so many things, it's not even funny! But, I'm trying to get them all done. Not going to list them here, because it's too much, but I'll be putting my "to do" list up on my creative journal soon enough.

[personal profile] shanaqui posted about this community just in time, I'd say. I was just starting to pull my head back out of the morass of what Life has been throwing at me, and buckle down into my writing again. Favourite writing tool: My computer. Pen/Pencil + paper just doesn't keep up as well.

Main fandoms: This is often changing, but my current main fandoms are Hey Arnold, Mass Effect (and 2), Weiß Kreuz, Gundam Wing, Ouran High School Host Club, and the Lincoln Rhyme series. There are definitely others.

Favourite characters/pairings:
- From Hey Arnold: (characters) Helga Pataki, Arnold | (pairings) Helga/Arnold and Gerald/Phoebe.
- From Mass Effect 1&2: (characters) Garrus Vakarian, Jeff (Joker) Moreau | (pairings) Shepard/Joker, Shepard/Garrus
- From Weiß Kreuz: (characters) Aya (Ran) Fujimiya, Nagi Naoe | (pairings) I don't really have an otp for this series.
- Gundam Wing: (character) Wufei Chang | (pairings) Duo/Wufei
- Ouran Host Club: (character) Kyouya Ootori | (pairings) Kyouya/Tamaki
- Lincoln Rhyme: (character) Lincoln Rhyme, Amelia Sachs, Thom Reston | (pairings) Rhyme/Sachs

I'd like to point out that I prefer to have a pretty open mind when it comes to pairings, and while the ones above are my definite favorites, I've found that a good author or artist can make me consider pairings I never really had before.

I like trying writing challenges, though I don't always finish them. I'm hoping that this community will give me a chance to finish them properly. I have a couple of promised-out fics still to do, as well as working on [community profile] scifibigbang and [community profile] overlooked, and I've recently created the writing challenge community [community profile] 3x3, though I don't yet have a claim into it. I want to get some of my other things finished off before I work on it.

Main Fandoms: Final Fantasy VII, Batman the Animated Series and Nolanverse Batman. I also plan to dabble in other fandoms as well for variety. Hetalia has been interesting me lately.
Favorite characters: Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII) and Jonathan Crane (Batman)
Favorite pairings: Zack/Aeris (Final Fantasy VII), Hojo/Lucrecia (Final Fantasy VII), Hojo/Jenova (Final Fantasy VII), Cloud/Tifa (Final Fantasy VII), Cid/Shera (Final Fantasy VII), Harley/Ivy (Batman) and Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (Batman)

Original Stuff

Genres: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Historical Fantasy, and possibly parody and satire. Oh and school papers - obviously nonfiction and mostly on history.
Types: Novels mostly, but what I've been doing for the most part lately is world building. It's quite fascinating. I have multiple stories in various stages of being created. I hope to work on one this summer and do another one for this year's NaNoWriMo.

Currently my main problem with deadlines and getting things done is the fact that school is eating me and I'm having trouble with deadlines there. I have multiple papers overdue and I need tons of damn help with this because it's scaring me and I can't fail these classes. I also keep getting urges to write fanfic, but I don't know what to do for the most part for inspiration. I have a few ideas for Final Fantasy VII fanfic, but I need to replay the game to check something and my copy is in storage which makes me a sad puppy. And all this school stress and my sleep schedule being off kilter has just made it nigh impossible for me to do almost anything!

I'm signed up to do writing for [community profile] parthenon for one of my original worlds and I can't find the energy to write any of the prompts and I'm also involved in [community profile] musing_way where I have way too many muses and I get ideas on how to respond to prompts, it's just somewhere the translation is getting lost.

Oh and I signed up for [community profile] ff_exchange as well and I have a fic that's long overdue that I promised to someone.

And on top of all of that, I actually have never really had people beta my work because I am chronically shy and afraid of asking for help

So help?

Writing journal: [community profile] helpyoufly...though I use my AO3 much much more often. >>
Favourite writing tool: Write or Die for when I need to just sit down and focus.
Type of writing: Fanfic mostly, sometimes I write little original bits but they never amount much to anything
Main fandoms: Tales of the Abyss and World of Warcraft mainly, though I can dabble in others.
Favourite characters/pairings: Uh, Van Grants and...Van Grants, yeah. XD
Most difficult part of writing for me: Getting started, and sometimes focusing. I have a short attention span so long works are especially hard. Is it any surprise that my fandoms are gaming ones?
Looking for: Accountability and cheerleaders, I suppose? Word wars too and advice. Maybe some "what do you think of this sentence?" thoughts too. Whatever'll keep me writing, really. :3

Overall, my goal is to get 100,000 words of fiction written by the end of the year. That's a bit far off but I plan to keep at it!

Favourite writing tool: 750 Words, just to get the juices flowing.
Type of writing: Original
Type of original writing: I'm working on 3 major worlds: one high fantasy, one cyberpunk-ish, one is a cross between a dystopia and a twist on Alice in Wonderland.
Most difficult part of writing for me: Getting going! And trying to make things semi-realistic.
Looking for: Word wars, advice, cheering people on via IM, help hammering out details.. Pretty much up for anything.
