When I'm in the mood, deadlines are a good motivator. Of course, sometimes they can be nightmarish, but I'm going with motivating for now! My Ultimate Deadline is September, as that's when I'm going to be starting my teacher training and I'm going to have a lot less spare time.

What I want to do by then is:
--Complete the first edit of the novel-first-draft (colloquially known as the superpower story) I recently finished. It's currently lying around so I can distance myself from it enough to look at it with clear eyes.
--Aim to reach about halfway through the novel-first-draft I'm now working on (colloquially known as the deathworm story). That target gives me a lot of leeway for days when I'm too busy or just don't feel like writing.

I've never drafted while editing something else (or edited in a methodical way, really), so I'm feeling a little apprehensive for when I start. I think it's going to be a challenge switching between editing-mode and drafting-mode, so fingers crossed for that one...

I also want to write at least four short snippets for Three Weeks for Dreamwidth. I've done one so far for [community profile] stayintheroom, so I feel cautiously confident about that.

Do you folks have any editing tips -- or, conversely, tips for switching off your inner editor?

Hello everybody!  I found this pimped and decided to join up, as I don't always succeed at finishing things and I need all the help I can get.  I was not in the best of health for a while, and now with access to the internet and awakeness, I have decided to start small and work my way back up to accomplishing things!

Fannish:
Writing journal: (if you have one):  I live at  [personal profile] majoline
Main fandoms:  I read Harry Potter, Jeeves and Wooster, SGA, (sometimes NCIS, Smallville, Supernatural)
*****But my current obsession that I am actively involved in is:  Star Trek: TOS/Reboot
Favourite characters/pairings:  Don't really have favorite pairings provided you can sell me on the characters interacting.
Favourite writing tool:  Word Perfect, but I'll take Open Office cause it's free!
Working on:  Podficcing lots of stuff! I need to get a move on and actually start posting. Mainly Graduate Vulcan for Fun and Profit and my Gaila list for [community profile] ladiesbigbang

Original:

Writing journal:  Same journal
Genres:  autobiographical
Types: (e.g. novel, play, microfictions):  Poetry
Favourite writing tool:  same as above

Hai, I be Sasha. Saw [personal profile] amethystfirefly  pimping it and decided to rock up. Might help me get things done for once.

Fannish:
Writing journal: (if you have one):

[community profile] 3evilmuses (90% fanfic/10% original) (DW);wolfanfics (fanfic) and sashas_nano (dumping place for NaNoWriMo stuff and random bits of original fiction) (LJ)
AO3 Archive: Sashataakheru (which only has selected works there)
Main fandoms: I am often a fandom of one. I am engaged in a journey to find/discover/found the most obscure RPS fandoms in existence and write fic for them. Basic groups are Australian comedy, Australian politics, and obscure bandslash.
Favourite characters/pairings: Ohh, um. Well, it changes, depending on what I'm writing. I've never really had favourites.
Favourite writing tool: Currently falling in love with little WordPad-like program called Jarte. It is everything I wished WordPad would be. Okay, I only got it for the wordcount thing, but still. XD OH. yWriter 5. I luffs that program. <3
Working on: I've got fic for [livejournal.com profile] au_bigbang to finish editing - I'm also doing my own soundtrack and leet grafix. I've signed up for two prompts for [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest (I'm a fulltime uni student, why do I do this to myself? D:) and I'm writing various pieces for [community profile] musing_way (for three muses, no less), amongst other things ranging from one-shots to novels. Etcetera.

Original:
Writing journal: (if you have one): ...See above. Well. See [community profile] 3evilmuses . That's got the most original fic.
Genres: Dystopia, sci-fi, queer fiction, steampunk
Types: (e.g. novel, play, microfictions): Novels and novellas, mostly. Not that I've finished any of them yet. >_>
Favourite writing tool: See above. XD
Working on: political queer dystopia titled Wild West Heroes/Rainbow Nation*, a vague sci-fi trilogy thing involving space pixies, and other various things I'm too tired to remember at the moment. Possibly a sign I should go to bed. XD

* This is what happens when you end up having two seemingly separate stories tell me they are actually part of the same universe. I have title issues, amongst other things. D:

ETA to add tags as my keyboard is made of fail tonight and posted before I was ready. DX I think they're the right ones. Add/fix as necessary. And now it hates my LJ links. Fine. *fixes*

Original Stuff

Genres: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Historical Fantasy, and possibly parody and satire. Oh and school papers - obviously nonfiction and mostly on history.
Types: Novels mostly, but what I've been doing for the most part lately is world building. It's quite fascinating. I have multiple stories in various stages of being created. I hope to work on one this summer and do another one for this year's NaNoWriMo.

Currently my main problem with deadlines and getting things done is the fact that school is eating me and I'm having trouble with deadlines there. I have multiple papers overdue and I need tons of damn help with this because it's scaring me and I can't fail these classes. I also keep getting urges to write fanfic, but I don't know what to do for the most part for inspiration. I have a few ideas for Final Fantasy VII fanfic, but I need to replay the game to check something and my copy is in storage which makes me a sad puppy. And all this school stress and my sleep schedule being off kilter has just made it nigh impossible for me to do almost anything!

I'm signed up to do writing for [community profile] parthenon for one of my original worlds and I can't find the energy to write any of the prompts and I'm also involved in [community profile] musing_way where I have way too many muses and I get ideas on how to respond to prompts, it's just somewhere the translation is getting lost.

Oh and I signed up for [community profile] ff_exchange as well and I have a fic that's long overdue that I promised to someone.

And on top of all of that, I actually have never really had people beta my work because I am chronically shy and afraid of asking for help

So help?

Writing journal: Uh.. This one? -lol- I just merged my writing journal into this one, since there's not much content over there. I'm keeping the writing journal, though, in the hopes that my writing actually gets going enough that I have to un-merge and go back to having a separate writing journal. :P
Favourite writing tool: 750 Words, just to get the juices flowing.
Type of writing: Original
Type of original writing: I'm working on 3 major worlds: one high fantasy, one cyberpunk-ish, one is a cross between a dystopia and a twist on Alice in Wonderland.
Most difficult part of writing for me: Getting going! And trying to make things semi-realistic.
Looking for: Word wars, advice, cheering people on via IM, help hammering out details.. Pretty much up for anything.
